Over spring break we went on a "practice" camping trip. We wanted to see how the kids would do so we can plan future camping trips during the summer. We camped 20 minutes from home in case the kids freaked out at bedtime but they actually did really well and we stayed the whole night.
Their favorite part was hanging out in the tent. They didn't want to come out.
We built a fire and tried out a "campfire cone" recipe from Pinterest. We filled ice cream cones with mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, and mini peanut butter cups. Then we wrapped it in foil and roasted it over the fire.
We kicked back and waited patiently and the result was not disappointing.
After the kids ate their cones, they roasted more marshmallows over the fire because you kind of have to if you're camping.
Then they discovered the doggy door in the tent. I have no words.
At bedtime Liam asked if we could turn the crickets down but after rolling around for a bit both kids fell fast asleep. Paul and I were the only ones who had trouble sleeping because who knew your body doesn't allow you to sleep on the ground after age 30? Next time we will bring an air mattress and hopefully we will be at the beach.
