Campfire Orange Cakes

I told you I would be back with this recipe so here it is. My source is from this blog and it's super tasty and even more fun.

First, you cut the tops off a few oranges. The recipe calls for like 10-15 but we only made 4. Ours were super huge naval oranges and we way over filled them until they exploded. One orange should equal one serving. You scoop out the insides like you would a pumpkin and discard. Or eat. Be sure to have your wipes handy because this gets messy. Oh, and yes, you must do it inside the tent so u can feed the oranges to your toddler while you let your baby roll around on the floor.

Then you prepare any boxed cake mix you prefer according to the package instructions. The original recipe was done with yellow cake mix but we are chocolate lovers over here so we decided to give it a try. It definitely didn't disappoint.

Next, you pour the cake mix into the orange shells. We learned that you should only fill them about halfway so they don't explode when the cake rises. Duh.

You put the tops back on the oranges and wrap them tightly in foil.

Then you cook them in your campfire for 15-20 minutes rotating every now and then so they cook evenly.

Now, you have super hot, fresh, chocolate cake with just a hint of orange flavor. Try it! You'll like it!

P.S. Being the chocolate lovers that we are, we decided we wanted to possibly try it with some chocolate chips next time. Yumm!
