Becoming less and less

I have been feeling so thankful lately for the challenges I face that force me to deny my wants for the needs of others. And by "others" I mean my children. The biggest challenge of motherhood has been just that. Giving up sleep and time, stretching my patience and endurance, teaching me how to be gentle with my words and loving unconditionally. It's work. But without it, I wouldn't have changed as much as I have. My heart and my attitude would be different. My faith and relationships would be weaker. I'm not the same person I was yesterday let alone 5 years ago. Realizing that true happiness involves more giving and less receiving isn't an easy lesson but it is definitely one that I am so glad I'm learning.
