The kids and I are in a play group that has the most fun and creative play date ideas. Today, one of our members hosted a "Little Olympics" at the park. Each family picked a country, came dressed in their country's colors and brought a dish to share from that country. The Kowalskis had to represent Poland so we dressed in red and white and brought Pierogis to share. The food was probably my favorite part. (It usually is). Curry puffs, empanadas, Israel Challah bread, crepes. You name it. It was there and it was delicious. After we stuffed our faces, we started opening ceremonies where the kids held ice cream cone torches and passed fire (pirate booty) from one person to the next. It was pretty hilarious to see how many ice cream cone torches were actually still in hand once the pirate booty came along and also how many kids ate just a piece of the fire here and there. Apparently, our kids like to eat. Then they played a few games including a bean bag toss into the Olympic rings and a run over some chalk drawn hurdles into a crepe paper finish line. Watching Liam run through the finish line was hilarious. He loved every second of it. The kids were all awarded medals and THEN there was a craft. We actually left at that point since we were beyond nap time for Brygit and Liam was screaming because his "hip" hurt which I later realized was a side cramp from running. Awesome day.
