3rd birthday pictures

I finally got around to taking Brygit's picture to commemorate her third birthday. I usually either take the kids to a portrait studio or I just take them to the park with my camera just to have something to hang in the hall and hand out to the grandparents. I put Brygit in her new Easter dress and she put on the blue headband and grabbed her purse on the way out. We went to the park and did a 5 minute photo shoot before changing into play clothes and heading to the playground.

The above photo is the one I'll be printing I think. And the one below is a picture of her doing a "sashe." She just started taking a Ballet and Tap class so I'm going to have to take more photos of her once she gets her tutu and tap shoes.

Photo shoot

I realized I never took pictures of Liam to document turning 5. I mean, I take pictures of him all the time but I usually like to snaz it up a bit with a nice shirt and maybe a nicer location than my front yard. It was 100 degrees (literally) and the kids wanted to play on the playground so I quickly snapped a few pictures in the shade and the kids turned on the charm. And by charm I mean weird faces.

Except for this one photo that I totally asked them to do. I think it's adorable.

And, although Liam really does kiss his sister all the time, this was his reaction.

Week 3

I started falling behind in my 30 day photo challenge through iheartfaces.com. I started to throw in the towel but then I just decided to skip the days I flaked on and power through. So here are my next few entries, missing a day or two.

30 day photo challenge

I stumbled across a 30 day photo challenge through a blog called "I Heart Faces." There is a photo prompt for each day and I believe that, technically, you are supposed to share your daily shot each day on Instagram or Facebook or wherever. I decided to just share mine here as I upload them to my computer. I must say that I have missed taking pictures every day. And I especially love having a prompt that makes me notice things around me besides just my adorable children. Like, one evening, as we walked to the park, I told Paul I was on the lookout for "texture." We ended up talking about what exactly that means and I actually took several pictures of texture we noticed around us. Particularly sewer grates, tree bark and little poky balls that had fallen from the trees. We stopped and talked about how one of the tree's trunks looked exactly like camouflage with brown and green spots. I promise you that any other day I wouldn't have looked at any if those things. It has been very fun so far.

Tea Party

We have a lot of tea parties around here. Or, as I like to think of them, outdoor baths, since I think more water ends up on the kids than they actually drink. I took the opportunity to take some pictures of Brygit for her second birthday since I think I'm going to be cheap again and not take her into a studio. Oh, and we are celebrating her second birthday with a small tea party so it's only fitting.

(I seriously don't know why Blogger is freaking out and won't resize the pictures after the first three. But I do know it brings out the OCD in me. Any ideas?)

A (rainy) day in the life

We have Internet! I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do around here so I'm just going to start at the beginning. November 12 (I think) was the third anniversary of this blog. I'm so glad I have been able to keep up with this thing for three whole years. I have loved looking back and reading stories and looking at old pictures. There are so many things I have written here that I honestly wouldn't have remembered otherwise. I guess that comes with getting old. (I'm celebrating my 29th birthday in 12 days so there are a lot of comments like that coming your way). Anyway, I decided to try another photo project. Not one that lasts a year (heavens, no) but one that lasts a day. I took a picture every hour for a whole day as a (sort of) glimpse into my daily life. It just so happened to be raining that day so I wouldn't say it was indicative of my life but you will get the gist. Here goes.

6am: Coffee. First thing.

7am: starting the day with Mary Poppins

8am: Post breakfast snack. (My kids are always eating). Oh, and those Pez dispensers were empty.

9am: Getting out of the house

10am: Coffee at the playground

11am: Peter pan baked a cake for Captain Hook (me) while Brygit tamed Rapunzel's wild hair

12pm: Brygit went down for her nap and I got to kick my feet up and play video games with Liam. I will admit it. This was my favorite time of the day.

1pm: We ran around the backyard with our pup.

2pm: Gotta start dinner early or it will never get done.

3pm: I chased the kids around the kitchen as is our afternoon ritual so I could only get blurry shots like these.

4pm: Chalk time

quickly followed by throwing chalk time.

5pm: Can you guess what we ate for dinner? And, no, it wasn't the pretzels.

6pm: Bath time

7pm: Making popcorn on the stove

8pm: Daddy's home!!!!

9pm: I listen to Brygit snore on the monitor while hanging out with Paul
