I had a very rough week. Brygit got her first tooth which is great but means a few restless nights and fussy days and Liam has entered a very challenging phase developmentally. I am going to call it the terrible threes because a friend of mine once warned me of it using that term. It is the horror that I feared after his second birthday that hadn't arrived until just now. Whining, crying, fit throwing, acting out. My adorable little boy has been pushing every button I have. Needless to say, I needed to get away. I thought of just driving to the beach and getting a room with the kids while Paul was at work. I have never been that adventerous so I must have really been losing it. Fortunately, Paul had already made reservations for his next day off. He gave his on-call week to a co- worker, cancelled his helicopter lesson and drove his family to Newport Beach. That is exactly why God gave me this man. So I won't go completely insane. It was a great couple of days. Liam was still a mess but he loved staying at the hotel and didn't want to leave in the morning. Brygit was pretty easy and did really well on the drive. And, most importantly, I got away. I layed on the beach with my family and was reminded of the huge God that created the massive ocean. I felt small and so did my problems. That night I had trouble sleeping so I layed awake pondering my next move in life. I had alone time while everyone slept to put together a game plan for the future. I'm feeling much better and very refreshed and I'm so grateful for that trip to the beach.
On our way home we made a detour to the Rainbow factory in San Clemente and bought matching Rainbows. This is Liam's first pair of flip flops and he has been trying very hard not to step out of them.
