Remember how we picked strawberries last year? Well, Brygit was too tiny to participate and strawberries happen to be one of her favorite foods so I have been talking about taking the kids again this summer. And talking is about as far as it got. We got so wrapped up in Liam's birthday and the subsequent first day of preschool that I completely forgot. I recently heard someone talking about apple picking and I thought, "Wait! It can't be apple season yet! We haven't picked berries yet! Nooooo!" So we took a trip to Oak Glen today to ravage the spoils of their strawberry crop. They warned that there wasn't much left but we found just enough. It's all about the experience anyway.
We picnicked at the park and enjoyed the cooler weather before heading over to the fields. Then Liam began his mission of finding the best berries while Brygit began her mission of eating as many berries and dirt as possible.
I love going up to Oak Glen and a trip wouldn't be complete without a caramel apple and honeycomb. NOW we can talk about fall and apple season.
Oh how I loved picking berries with our boys when they were about the same age. Berries just don't survive long here in the desert now.
